כִּיוָּןm. (כּוּן) (firmness, directness, fitness;) 1) (adv.) directly, exactly. Pes.37a אפשר … ויקבענה כ׳ he may form the dough in a mould and attach it to the cake directly (well fitting, without loss of time). Tam.III, 6 אחד … ואחד פותח כ׳ (with one key) a priest puts his hand through an opening in the door (v. אַמָּה), and another priest opens (with the other key) directly; (Talm.ed. 30b ואחד שהוא פותח כ׳ and another key which opens directly). 2) (conj. followed by ש־) as soon as, since. Macc.3a, a. fr. כ׳ שהגידוכ׳ as soon as a witness has finished his evidence, he is not permitted to testify again (retract or modify).
